Welcome to Week #2 – FREE GIVEAWAY for the ❤️-19 Challenge to support local businesses! This week’s giveaway was to Laki’s Family Restaurant in Smithville Ontario. I offered a $25 free gift card to their restaurant, and thanks to Gino Montani with Royal LePage State Realty, Gino was able to sweeten the giveaway by offering a handcrafted charcuterie board with a $25 gift card to VG Meats to really decorate your new board with all sorts of great slices of meats and cheeses. I would like to point out the charcuterie board was cut, finished, and stained by Gino himself!
The Laki’s Family Restaurant is a family own business in Smithville Ontario. I had an opportunity to talk to one of owner’s nieces and she was telling me the restaurant had just opened up on Valentines’ day and exactly a week later they had to close their dining room because of the pandemic. Laki is the owner’s name and his son came over from Greece to help open the restaurant; the whole family has really pitched in to help keep the restaurant running. They have managed to stay open by offering take-out and posting their daily specials on their Facebook page. They want me to pass along a message, they have felt so appreciated and grateful for all the support they have received and continue to receive from community.
