The Love-19 Challenge, Week #2 – Laki’s Family Restaurant in Smithville

Welcome to Week #2 – FREE GIVEAWAY for the ❤️-19 Challenge to support local businesses! This week’s giveaway was to Laki’s Family Restaurant in Smithville Ontario. I offered a $25 free gift card to their restaurant, and thanks to Gino Montani with Royal LePage State Realty, Gino was able to sweeten the giveaway by offering a handcrafted charcuterie board with a $25 gift card to VG Meats to really decorate your new board with all sorts of great slices of meats and cheeses. I would like to point out the charcuterie board was cut, finished, and stained by Gino himself!

The Laki’s Family Restaurant is a family own business in Smithville Ontario. I had an opportunity to talk to one of owner’s nieces and she was telling me the restaurant had just opened up on Valentines’ day and exactly a week later they had to close their dining room because of the pandemic. Laki is the owner’s name and his son came over from Greece to help open the restaurant; the whole family has really pitched in to help keep the restaurant running. They have managed to stay open by offering take-out and posting their daily specials on their Facebook page. They want me to pass along a message, they have felt so appreciated and grateful for all the support they have received and continue to receive from community. The Love-19 Challenge, Week #1 – Memphis Fire BBQ in Winona

I would like to welcome everyone to my first week of the ❤️-19 Challenge to support local businesses

The LOVE-19 Challenge is a commitment to buying 19 gift cards for different local businesses who have been affected by the COVID-19 Crisis and giving the cards away to locals. We call it LOVE-19.

The virus is getting enough attention and I thought it would be great to spread a little local love. (With appropriate social distancing of course.)

To start things off, I wanted to support one of my favourite local restaurants, by offering a free $25 gift card to The Memphis Fire Barbeque Company in Winona, Ontario.
